History of the New Market Area Museum

After dissolution of the New Market School District in 2008, the elementary building remained empty until 2015 when a group of volunteers began renovations on the building to establish a museum.  After many hours and much work, the museum had it's grand opening and ribbon cutting in June 2019.

As of July 2023, the museum now has all seven former classrooms set up with displays:

Miner Blvd. - New Market School Memorabilia.

New Market Ave. - Items and history of the town of New Market.

Home Sweet Home - Just as the name suggests, all things related to homes and people of the past.

Country Lane - A walk down memory lane relating to life on the farm.

Toys and Tech - toys of the past and how technology has evolved into our cell phones.

His and Hers - Life of the lady of the house...and remembering early automobiles, gas stations, etc.

This and That - New Market railroad history and a little bit more.

The hallways are also lined with memories. Please plan a visit sometime. You will not be disappointed.

"Those things from the past which are valued enough today to save for future generations."
